Cynthia Haynes-Williams, Director of Development and Prospect Research, brings over 20 years of nonprofit and fundraising expertise to Chalkbeat and Civic News Company. She initially joined Chalkbeat in August 2022 as the Prospect Strategy and Research Manager, leveraging her extensive background in fundraising to enhance the development prospect research program. Throughout her career, Cynthia has honed her skills in managing prospect development and research programs, consistently implementing industry-leading practices to meet organizational objectives. Her professional journey has seen her contribute to esteemed institutions such as the Denver Rescue Mission, Mile High United Way, Denver Museum of Nature and Science, National Jewish Health, Colorado School of Mines, and Tennyson Center. Cynthia served as a member of Apra’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging, Justice, and Access Committee (DEIBJA), reflecting her commitment to fostering an inclusive environment within the prospect development industry. She has also held various roles within the Apra community, including Membership Director, Treasurer, and Mentor for the Apra Rocky Mountains chapter. Apra is an international organization dedicated to prospect development and research professionals. Before her tenure at Chalkbeat and Civic News Company, Cynthia held positions at the Denver Public Library and Dayton Memorial Library at Regis University, where she expanded her expertise in library management and administration. A true native of Colorado, Cynthia is a proud alumna of Regis University, where she earned her bachelor's degree in business management with a minor in psychology.
