Joanna Kadieva is a fundraiser with over eleven years of experience in the nonprofit sector, having focused on higher education, environmental law, and climate NGOs. She started her career at her alma mater, the University of Chicago, and has worked on major individual giving and institutional campaigns in New York City since, at Wave Hill, ClientEarth US, and Climate Group North America. A product of both New York City public and independent schools, Joanna is excited to contribute to Chalkbeat’s mission to inform debate and action and ultimately improve the current education system for all its students. Joanna majored in Political Science with a focus on International Relations at the University of Chicago. She began her spirit of volunteerism and nonprofit philanthropy there, serving on the leadership teams of multiple registered student organizations and earning the Howell Murray Alumni Association Award, given to the top 1% of graduating seniors who made the greatest impact on the University in their time on campus. She is currently serving as the Vice President of the Alumni Club Board of New York City. When she is not working to improve the professional and personal communities with which she is involved, Joanna is a competitive amateur runner for the Central Park Track Club and enjoys competing in road races and trail ultramarathons.
