The annual PASEsetter Awards Benefit gathers more than 500 city leaders from government, business, education, advocacy, philanthropy, and youth development to honor five of New York City’s most innovative and effective community educators, as well as Afterschool Champions who have dedicated their expertise, knowledge, time, and values to improve the lives of the youth of New York City. This year's PASEsetter Award Winners are: - Wesner J. Pierre, CAMBA Inc. - José Pietri-Coimbre, Third Street Music School Settlement - Madeline Rosario, New Settlement Apartments - Vanessa Vales-Lewis, Arthur Ashe Institute for Urban Health - Virginia Vitzthum, Youth Communication Eileen Murray will be honored as the 2017 Afterschool Champion. Join us for an evening of true stories from Memphis educators and students. Chalkbeat Tennessee is hosting a storytelling event under the theme "Natural Consequences" alongside Spillit.
We'll explore how natural and unnatural, just and unjust consequences to actions impact our lives and experiences. Storytellers will deliver personal stories, and many of them will touch on how, in diverse ways, school discipline has impacted their lives. Don't miss our latest investigation into school discipline practices here.Tickets are 10 dollars and available at the door the evening of the show.
