Student-Led Conferences (SLCs) empower students to take ownership of their education and engage families in their school experience. During SLCs, which take the place of traditional parent-teacher conferences, students reflect publicly on what they’ve learned, in what ways they need to grow, and how they plan to do so to a panel of their teachers, advisors, and families.
Presented by NYC Outward Bound Schools, this one-day institute will include live SLCs with current students; a Q&A panel with students, teachers, and leaders from NYC Outward Bound’s network of public schools; as well as readings, discussions, and planning time.
This institute is ideal for middle and high school educators. Participants will leave this institute prepared to implement SLCs in their own schools or equipped with strategies to strengthen their existing SLC practice.
This event takes place on March 19, 2018, 8:30am – 4:30pm.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
