This two-day professional learning workshop is designed to help all teachers—general education and ELL specialists alike—apply the most effective research-based instructional strategies to the five stages of language acquisition and develop students’ English language fluency during subject-matter instruction. Participants will receive a copy of -- and work through -- the book "Classroom Instruction That Works with English Language Learners" and receive online coaching during the 2018–19 school year. Join us for an evening of true stories from Memphis educators and students. Chalkbeat Tennessee is hosting a storytelling event under the theme "Natural Consequences" alongside Spillit.
We'll explore how natural and unnatural, just and unjust consequences to actions impact our lives and experiences. Storytellers will deliver personal stories, and many of them will touch on how, in diverse ways, school discipline has impacted their lives.
