This two-day statewide educator institute will bring educators, administrators, and other youth-serving adults together to engage in professional development around LGBTQ-inclusive educational practices. Research continues to show that school professionals lack the knowledge, resources, and support needed to appropriately build classrooms, curriculum, and school environments that are safe and affirming of all students. This Institute will be by educators/ for educators. Facilitators and session leaders will be people who work with youth in schools, classrooms, and community organizations. We stand by the idea that in teaching, "practice makes practice." All sessions will include resources, practical strategies, and time for participants to practice the work of creating safe and affirming schools. Hosted by A Queer Endeavor (housed in the CU Boulder School of Education) with support from Boulder Valley School District, GSA Network, ONE Colorado, and Out Boulder County. Storytellers will deliver personal stories, and many of them will touch on how, in diverse ways, school discipline has impacted their lives. Don't miss our latest investigation into school discipline practices here.Tickets are 10 dollars and available at the door the evening of the show. The event will be held Feb. 2 at Epicenter, 902 Cooper Street, Memphis, TN. A special thanks to Knowledge Tree for its sponsorship of this event.
