The 2017-18 Shelby County Schools Optional Schools application process gets started on Monday, Jan. 23, the first day that bar-coded applications will be available. With 46 unique and highly competitive tuition-free schools all across Shelby County, the SCS Optional Program offers education choices for families, no matter what a student's interests may be. Every Optional school has a specialized learning focus, such as Enriched Academics, College Prep, International Studies, International Baccalaureate (IB), Creative & Performing Arts, STEAM, Automotive Technology and more. A unique bar-code on each application reserves a parent’s place in the application submission order.
- Bar-coded applications are available for pick-up Monday, January 23, through Thursday, January 26.
- Bar-coded applications must be submitted online, by mail or in person by 5 p.m.on Friday, January 27.
- Non-bar-coded applications are currently available in all 46 Optional schools and will be available in the Division of Optional Schools & Advanced Academics after January 26.

Close out the school year with hilarious, heartbreaking, and inspiring stories from educators around greater Indianapolis, told at the Central Library! Indy's fourth teacher story slam will feature true stories from circle city classrooms shared live in the Clowes Auditorium.
