We will be exploring the intersection between race, education, testing and funding. How have people of color been denied educational access and opportunities throughout history and what have been the forces that have fought back?
Join other parents from across the city in exploring the history and impact of race on education policy. We will be taking a historical look at how racism has shaped public schools and how people have organized and worked together to combat it. Throughout the day we will explore a few of the ways that groups are fighting against racism in schools now:
Standardized testing and opt-out
Culturally relevant curriculum
Fair school funding
Restorative discipline practices
