TeacherQuest is a professional development program and learning community for teachers of all grades and subject areas. With an emphasis on game-like learning, the design process, and systems thinking, TeacherQuest will provide both new ways of thinking and practical tools to support teaching. This course is an introduction to designing non-digital game-like learning experiences for the classroom. Participants will: Explore and use game based learning strategies through collaborative design challenges Create, playtest, and rollout your very own learning game as part of an iterative design process. Use design thinking as a frame for developing classroom-ready materials. Gain valuable resources and best practices for bringing game-based learning into your classrooms. This program is a collaboration between Institute of Play and NYU. The registration fee is $525; however, teachers working in high-needs schools can apply for a full or partial scholarship. NYU students can use their NYU course vouchers to register and receive two credits upon completion of the program. Register at instituteofplay.org/teacherquest-nyc by July 27 to participate.

Join us for an evening of true stories from Memphis educators and students. Chalkbeat Tennessee is hosting a storytelling event under the theme "Natural Consequences" alongside Spillit.
We'll explore how natural and unnatural, just and unjust consequences to actions impact our lives and experiences. Storytellers will deliver personal stories, and many of them will touch on how, in diverse ways, school discipline has impacted their lives. Don't miss our latest investigation into school discipline practices here.Tickets are 10 dollars and available at the door the evening of the show.
