This article was originally published in The Notebook. In August 2020, The Notebook became Chalkbeat Philadelphia.
Just in time for the new school year, the Notebook‘s fourth annual Fall Guide to High Schools is out. You can pick one up around town at the schools, libraries, and community sites where you always find the Notebook.
It’s also available online – right now just in PDF format. Later this month, it will be posted on our site in searchable form.
The 2012 edition of the Fall Guide is our biggest edition ever — 40 pages. In it you can find data telling you how high schools are doing (see pages 20-21) and profiles of nearly 90 high school options, District and charter. Articles help explain the process of applying, offering a timeline — the deadline for completing and submitting applications is Nov. 2 — and answers to frequently asked questions.
There are also articles on our theme, which this year is the changing high school landscape.
We’ll be distributing the guide at the annual High School Expo Sept. 29 and 30. Look for us there. Or if you’d like to help us hand them out that weekend, contact us at notebook@thenotebook.org.
Also email us if you would like to pick up some extra copies that we have at our office.
