News alert: Meet the winners of Tuesday’s Detroit school board election

Detroit voters on Tuesday selected one incumbent and one new arrival to serve on the board that oversees the state’s largest school district.

Deborah Hunter-Harvill, an educational consultant and a former suburban schools superintendent, was the top vote-getter among eight candidates vying for two seats on the board. Pastor Corletta J. Vaughn won the second seat and will join the board in January.
