Rise & Shine: An expert weighs in on the role of race and politics in Benton Harbor school controversy

No doubt you’ve heard about the controversy surrounding Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s proposal to close the low-performing Benton Harbor High School.

Koby talked to a Rutgers University assistant professor, who has extensively studied state takeovers, to find out the potential risk to Whitmer, who campaigned in part on a promise to help poor communities.
