Indianapolis Public Schools named 10 finalists Wednesday for Teacher of the Year.
One of the finalists, nominated from schools across the district, will be selected as the 2019 Teacher of the Year in an announcement Friday.
Last year, the district’s Teacher of the Year was Kathleen Rauth, a librarian at Center for Inquiry at School 27.
Here are the 10 finalists:
Chris Boylan
Life skills teacher at George Washington High School with 17 years of teaching experience.
Erik Catellier
Language arts teacher for grades 6-8 at Center for Inquiry at School 2 with 10 years of teaching experience.
Jordan Fath
Special education teacher for grades 2-8 at School 15 since 2014.
Laura Gladish
Music teacher for the IPS Newcomer Program with nine years of teaching experience.
Rachel Head
First-grade teacher at Center for Inquiry at School 84 for four years.
Jamie Rickard
History and government teacher at Broad Ripple High School with 15 years of teaching experience.
Paige Sjoerdsma
English language arts teacher for grades 6-7 at IPS/Butler University Laboratory School 60 with five years of teaching experience.
Michael Smith
Freshman English language arts teacher at Arlington High School, who has worked in IPS for two years.
Alexandria Stewart
Middle school teacher at Center for Inquiry at School 70 with five years of teaching experience.
Eric Vanveelen
Second-grade teacher at SUPER School 19 with three years of teaching experience.
