Join us for a story slam during Teacher Appreciation Week

Sure, you can thank teachers for their hard work and give them a nice gift. But if you want to truly appreciate teachers’ unique perspectives, come hear their stories from the classroom at our story slam event next Friday.

A selection of teachers will tell their true stories live at this free event, co-hosted by Teachers Lounge Indy and Chalkbeat Indiana. Their stories are hilarious, heartfelt, and insightful takes on the challenges and triumphs of teaching.

At last month’s story slam, we heard from a teacher who spent his own money to provide pencils for his class — and then felt the stinging costs of that expense when he went on a first date and his bank account was zeroed out.

A former teacher told us about all the things she bought for her middle school students to help them learn to read at grade level.

And another teacher talked about how he couldn’t leave teaching even though he needs a second job to pay his bills.
