Under a contract deal, Newark teachers will get annual raises and will no longer be paid based in part on their students’ test scores, according to union documents released Tuesday.
- Teachers and other union members will see their salaries increase by an average of 3.1% per year.
- Top-rated teachers will no longer earn bonuses; low-rated teachers will no longer be automatically blocked from getting pay increases.
- Teachers will also get more planning time, and extra pay when they earn advanced degrees.
- Union members and the Newark school board will vote on the contract later this month.
