The Educational Justice Political Action Committee, composed of parents and community activists, has endorsed Public Advocate Bill de Blasio for mayor.
“From advocating for a tax on our city’s wealthiest to pay for universal early education and after-school programs to calling for a moratorium on co-locations and school closures, Bill has stood by our students, teachers and parents from day one,” said Ocynthia Williams, a longtime parent activist who is on EJPAC’s board.
It’s the latest in a string of endorsements from community groups and elected officials that de Blasio’s campaign is touting this week. De Blasio is also seen as a leading contender for the more significant UFT endorsement, due out on Wednesday.
We reported about EJPAC when it formed four years ago. The group supported candidates in New York City’s 2009 municipal elections, donating up to the maximum $2,750 for City Council candidate Daniel Dromm, who won his race. As of January, it had a little over $3,000 in its bank account.
